SHOP Food Pantry

The SHOP is a food pantry for Iowa State students. Our mission is to engage with anti-hunger advocates and serve the student population by increasing hunger awareness and food security. The SHOP is run by student volunteers and the food is obtained through donations. This service is completely confidential.

Get Started

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at SHOP. We currently have a 2-tiered system for students looking to help. The first tier is “volunteer,” which is limited to 3 hours a semester while the second tier, “club member,” requires at least 6 hours a semester. There are additional trainings and requirements for club members, those seeking to spend more than 3 hours a semester in the SHOP, so that we can make sure our policies are upheld. We welcome individuals in both tiers and hope they provide opportunities for all levels of involvement. As a volunteer based organization, we rely on volunteers to keep the food pantry running! As a volunteer, you will be responsible for welcoming people into SHOP, assisting SHOP users in finding items and answering questions. If items have recently been delivered to SHOP, volunteers will also assist in stocking shelves and monitoring refrigeration temperatures. Interested in volunteering for SHOP this semester?
